What Happened?

On or about June 8, 2025, Whitfield Regional Hospital detected unauthorized access to its network. Upon detection, Whitfield Regional immediately secured its network, reported the incident to law enforcement, and commenced a through investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts. Following the completion of the investigation, Whitfield Regional determined on June 26, 2026 that the files impacted by the unauthorized access may have contained personal information and health information. Whitfield Regional, at the time of publication, has not disclosed further details of the breach, such as the dates/duration of the unauthorized access, or how it was carried out.

On July 17, 2026, Whitfield Regional began to send notice to affected individuals. Whitfield Regional has also uploaded a public notice of the incident to its website.

What Information Was Impacted?

According to Whitfield Regional Hospital’s public notice, the following categories of personal information and protected health information may have been compromised:

• Name;
• Date of birth;
• Social Security number;
• Driver's license number;
• Financial account information;
• Medical information; and
• Health insurance information.
