According to dark web monitoring sources, Smilepoint Dental Group (“Smilepoint”) recently experienced a data breach claimed by the ransomware group known as Space Bears. Our firm is investigating this matter and would like to speak with current and former patients of Smilepoint Dental Group and its affiliated dental practices.
On or around May 12, 2026, the ransomware group Space Bears claimed to have breached systems belonging to Smilepoint Dental Group, a dental organization operating 27 offices throughout Texas and one office in New Mexico.
The allegedly compromised data includes patient databases containing Social Security numbers and medical histories, access to Smilepoint’s local EagleSoft dental practice management database, and internal financial reports. EagleSoft is a comprehensive dental practice management platform on which patient records may be stored.
The alleged breach remains unconfirmed by Smilepoint Dental Group as of publication. The full scope of the incident, including the duration of any unauthorized access and the total number of affected individuals, remains under investigation.
