What Is This About?

If you received a letter or email about a data breach from Silver Summit Medical Corporation (“SSMC”) – the legal name of two affiliated medical practices in Bakersfield, California: Heart Vascular & Leg Center and Digestive Disease Center – your sensitive personal information or protected health information may have been compromised in a recent data breach. What Happened?

On or about July 20, 2026, SSMC became aware that a data breach attributed to a third-party vendor affected personal or protected health information received by SSMC. Data from the vendor’s systems was acquired without authorization between November 27, 2025, and November 30, 2025. Upon becoming aware of the breach, SSMC moved to investigate and respond to the event and to notify potentially affected individuals.

On August 19, 2026, SSMC reported the breach to the California Attorney General. SSMC has also posted public notice of the breach to the websites for Digestive Disease Center and Heart Vascular & Leg Center. Notice letters appear to have been sent to individuals, also dated August 19, 2026.

What Information Was Impacted?

According to SSMC’s public disclosures, the following categories of information may have been compromised:

• Name;
• Date of birth;
• Medical treatment, procedure, and/or diagnosis information;
• Social Security number or taxpayer identification number;
• Driver’s license number;
• Passport or other governmental identification number;
• Financial account or payment card information; and
• Health insurance policy number.
