According to dark web monitoring sources, Longhorn III Investments, LLC (a/k/a Longhorn Investments, or “Longhorn”) of Dallas, Texas may have experienced a data breach allegedly carried out by the threat group known as Coinbase Cartel. On or around August 22, 2026, dark web monitoring websites including Ransomware.live detected that the cybercriminal threat group known as Coinbase Cartel had claimed a breach of Longhorn Investments’ systems in a post made to the group’s dark web leak site. Coinbase Cartel is specifically known for data theft and extortion rather than systems encryption, raising concerns that it has stolen data from Longhorn and issued a ransom demand.
As of publication, Longhorn Investments has not confirmed the alleged breach’s authenticity. Details of the alleged breach, such the full scope of potentially affected information and the number of individuals who may be affected, remain under investigation.
