What Is This About?

If you received a letter or email about a data breach from Kovack Financial, LLC d/b/a Kovack Financial Network (which owns the companies Kovack Securities and Kovack Advisors, collectively “Kovack”), your sensitive personal information or protected health information may have been compromised in a recent data breach. What Happened?

On August 28, 2025, Kovack, a Florida-based financial services company whose arms include the broker-dealer Kovack Securities and investment advisor firm Kovack Advisors, became aware of suspicious activity on its computer network. Kovack promptly took steps to secure its network and then launched an investigation into the nature and scope of the suspicious activity. The investigation determined that an unknown actor gained access to files within Kovack’s network between August 8 and August 27, 2025. Kovack then undertook a review of the files to determine what information is affected and the persons to whom the information belongs, concluding this process on July 16, 2026.

On August 10, 2026, Kovack reported the data breach to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation and to the Attorneys General of Vermont and California. 1,713 Massachusetts residents and 243 Vermont residents were reported to be affected by the breach. Kovack is sending notice letters to affected individuals.

What Information Was Impacted?

According to Kovack’s public disclosures, the following categories of information may have been compromised:

• Name;
• Social Security number;
• Financial account information;
• Driver's license or other government ID;
• Credit or debit card information; and
• Other personal or protected health information.
