What Is This About?

If you received a letter or email about a data breach from HUT American Group LLC (“HUT Group”), an Ohio company that operates over 1,000 Pizza Hut restaurants in the U.S., your sensitive personal information or protected health information may have been compromised in a recent data breach. What Happened?

On or around August 21, 2026, HUT Group reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Texas. According to the Texas AG’s website, 3,528 Texas residents were affected by the breach, which exposed numerous categories of personal and protected health information, including Social Security numbers, government IDs such as driver’s licenses, medical information, and more. Based on the types of information reported as compromised, the breach likely affects current and former employees of HUT Group’s Pizza Hut restaurants. On August 18, 2026, Apple American Group LLC, which like the HUT Group is part of the larger Flynn Group network of franchise restaurants, reported its own data breach to various state authorities. It is unknown at this time if the breaches are related to each other.

At publication, further details about the breach, such as when it occurred and how many people in total are affected, have not yet been made public. HUT Group is issuing notice letters to individuals affected by the breach via U.S. Mail

What Information Was Impacted?

According to HUT Group’s report to the Texas Attorney General, the below categories of information may have been compromised, though it is possible that other categories may have been compromised as to residents of states other than Texas:

• Names;
• Dates of birth;
• Social Security numbers;
• Financial account information;
• Government ID numbers, including driver's license or passport information;
• Credit and debit card information;
• Medical information; and
• Health insurance information.
