On October 27, 2025, Fried Frank became aware of a security incident involving unauthorized access to a user account by a third party. The attacker used this compromised account to copy certain files from a Fried Frank shared network drive. Upon detection, Fried Frank contained the incident and launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed and obtained certain files, including files containing personal information, between October 23, 2025, and the early morning of October 28, 2025. Fried Frank informed its affected business clients of the breach in or before December 2025. At least some of these clients have since sent their own notice letters to affected persons. From January 30, 2026 to February 2, 2026, Fried Frank filed notice of the breach with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation and the Attorneys General of California, Maine, Texas, and Washington, and began directly issuing notice letters to impacted individuals.
