What Is This About?

According to dark web monitoring sources, Express Employment Professionals, a franchised chain of employment/staffing agencies (a/k/a Express Employment International and Express Services, Inc., collectively, “Express”), may have experienced a data breach allegedly carried out by the threat group known as Chaos. Our firm is investigating this incident and would like to speak with people who have applied for a job through/with Express Employment Professionals.

What Happened?

On or around September 17, 2026, dark web monitoring websites including Ransomware.live detected that the cybercriminal threat group known as Chaos had claimed a breach of Express' Systems in a post made to Chaos’ dark web leak site. Chaos claims to be in possession of about 1.1 TB (1,100 gigabytes) of data stolen from Express’ systems, including what it calls an extensive amount of personal information belonging to job seekers who have applied with Express.

As of publication, Express has not confirmed the alleged breach’s authenticity. Details of the alleged breach, such the full scope of potentially affected information and the number of potentially affected individuals, remain under investigation.

What Information Was Impacted?

While Express has not confirmed the alleged breach nor its associated details, based on claims made by the Chaos threat group, the following categories of information may have been compromised:

• Names;
• Contact information;
• Social Security number;
• Government-issued IDs such as passport or driver’s license;
• Financial account information; and
• Other sensitive personal information.
