If you recently received a letter or an email from Deaconess Health System (“Deaconess”) informing you that your sensitive personal or protected health information was compromised in a data breach, we would like to speak with you about your rights and potential legal remedies. Deaconess recently disclosed that it was the victim of a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal and protected health information of patients from Deaconess Henderson Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky, Deaconess Union County Hospital in Morganfield, Kentucky, and affiliated clinics.
On February 2, 2026, Deaconess was informed by its Release of Information (“ROI”) vendor, MediCopy, of a data security incident involving certain patient information associated with ROI requests. Following this notification, Deaconess initiated an investigation in collaboration with MediCopy. The investigation revealed that on January 13, 2026, an unauthorized individual gained access to MediCopy’s cloud-based file-sharing system and downloaded certain files. Deaconess then undertook a detailed review of the affected files to determine which individuals’ information may have been involved.
Importantly, the incident did not affect Deaconess’s internal IT infrastructure or its electronic medical records system. The scope of the breach is limited to specific patients from Deaconess Henderson Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky, Deaconess Union County Hospital in Morganfield, Kentucky, and affiliated clinics, whose records were processed through ROI requests.
Deaconess has since provided public notice of the incident through its website and has begun to mail notice to affected persons.
