What Is This About?

If you received a letter or email about a data breach from Baylor Miraca Genetics Laboratories, LLC (“Baylor Genetics”), your sensitive personal information or protected health information may have been compromised in a recent data breach. What Happened?

On or about June 15, 2026, Baylor Genetics identified suspicious activity within a limited portion of its IT environment. Baylor Genetics immediately secured affected systems and launched a comprehensive investigation into the activity’s nature and scope with the assistance of independent cybersecurity and digital forensic professionals. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed certain portions of Baylor Genetics’ network, and data stored therein, between June 11 and June 17, 2026. Baylor Genetics then conducted a review of the data that had been subject to unauthorized access, completing this process on July 30, 2026.

On August 14, 2026, Baylor Genetics posted a public notice of the breach to its website, where it indicated it had sent individual notice. On August 18, 2026, the data breach was published on the Texas Attorney General’s website. Baylor Genetics has also notified the Attorneys General of California and Vermont. Among those affected by the breach are about 248,000 residents of Texas, about 4,500 residents of Rhode Island, and about 2,600 residents of Vermont.

What Information Was Impacted?

According to Baylor Genetics’ public disclosures, the following categories of information, varying from person to person and across patients and employees, may have been compromised:

• Name;
• Date of birth;
• Medical testing information;
• Laboratory test results;
• Social Security number;
• Health insurance information;
• Financial account information;
• Credit/debit card information;
• Government-issued ID number; and
• Other personal identifying information.
