According to news sources, AnMed, a nonprofit health system serving patients in South Carolina and Georgia, recently confirmed a cybersecurity incident, which may have impacted sensitive personal information and protected health information. Our firm is investigating this incident and would like to speak with current and former patients and employees of AnMed.
According to news sources including The HIPPA Journal, AnMed (formerly AnMed Health), a nonprofit health system serving patients in South Carolina and Georgia, confirmed on July 25, 2026 that it had experienced “a cybersecurity disruption involving malware.” The disruption forced AnMed to temporarily close much of its operations, including the AnMed Medical Group offices and AnMed Imaging Services on Monday, July 27, 2026. Reportedly, computer, phone, and internet systems are still experiencing issues as of July 27, 2026. 79 of AnMed’s 106 total facilities have been temporarily closed while AnMed deals with the cyberattack-related disruption.
As of July 27, 2026, it is not publicly known if the threat actor(s) behind the cyberattack have accessed or obtained personal or health information maintained in AnMed’s systems. AnMed is working with its partners in regional hospitals, EMS, and public safety to ensure patients receive appropriate care in the midst of any necessary measures taken in response to the cyberattack. AnMed is currently unable to provide a timeline for when computer systems will be recovered, when closed offices will reopen, and when normal services will resume.
As of publication, it has not been confirmed by AnMed if personal or health information has been impacted by the cyberattack. As an apparent ransomware attack against a health system, the following categories of information may have been compromised by the attack:
