What Is This About?

According to dark web monitoring sources and reporting from Cybernews.com, MoneyGram, one of the world’s largest payment networks, may have experienced a data breach claimed by the threat group known as The Gentlemen. Our firm is investigating this incident and would like to speak with people who have used MoneyGram to send or receive money.

What Happened?

On October 12, 2026, Paulina Okunyte of Cybernews.com reported that the cybercriminal threat group known as The Gentlemen had claimed a data breach of MoneyGram on the threat group’s leak site on the dark net. The Gentlemen appear to have given MoneyGram a little more than a week to start negotiating. MoneyGram has not yet confirmed the breach’s authenticity or commented as to what data might be involved.

Given that MoneyGram is a company that handles money transfers, the data allegedly obtained by The Gentlemen gang could contain sensitive personal or financial information. According to researchers with Cybernews, the kind of data processed by MoneyGram is particularly monetizable on the dark web. MoneyGram suffered a cyberattack in 2024 that resulted in the theft of customer names, Social Security numbers, government IDs, and transaction records. As of publication, MoneyGram had not responded to Cybernews’ request for comment.
