On or about April 23, 2025, Barnhart detected unauthorized access to its network. Upon learning of this issue, Barnhart immediately began an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity professionals. Barnhart determined that the activity within the company’s systems occurred between April 23, 2025, and April 24, 2025.

On April 21, 2026, following a detailed forensic investigation and review of affected information, Barnhart determined that certain files containing personally identifiable information may have been subject to unauthorized access or acquisition.

On May 21, 2026, Barnhart began to send notice letters to impacted individuals and reported the incident to state regulators. Barnhart also posted a notice of the incident to its company website. According to Barnhart’s submission to the Maine Attorney General’s Office, approximately 22,822 individuals were affected by the incident.

                        • Social Security number;
                        • Driver’s license number or state identification number;
                        • Passport number;
                        • Financial account information;
                        • Date of birth;

                        • Health information; and
                        • Insurance information.
