On May 21, 2026, the ransomware group known as Payload added to its dark web-hosted website an entry for IMPC, an internal medicine and pediatrics practice located in Cullman, Alabama. Dark web monitoring sources reported discovering the alleged breach on the same day. Payload claims to have obtained 5 gigabytes of data from IMPC and has posted a timer counting down about seven days, a common practice among ransomware extortion groups suggesting the group has issued a ransom demand against IMPC.

As of publication, the alleged incident has not been publicly confirmed by IMPC. Additional details regarding how the attack occurred, how long systems may have been affected, and whether sensitive personal and protected health information was accessed, acquired, or removed remain under investigation.
