On March 18, 2026, Ameriprise Financial discovered that an unauthorized individual had gained access to certain stored data and files within its network. The company reported that it blocked the unauthorized access the same day and began an investigation with the assistance of outside cybersecurity professionals.
On April 17, 2026, Ameriprise notified state regulators, including the Rhode Island Attorney General, California Attorney General, Maine Attorney General about the incident. Written notice letters to affected individuals began going out on April 17, 2026.
According to disclosures made to state authorities, approximately 47,876 individuals nationwide were affected, including 256 residents of Rhode Island and 335 residents of Maine.
