If you recently received a letter or an email from Kaplan North America, LLC (“Kaplan”) informing you that your sensitive personal information was compromised in a data breach, we would like to speak with you about your rights and potential legal remedies. Kaplan recently disclosed that it was the victim of a data breach that exposed individuals’ sensitive personal information.
Kaplan recently concluded its investigation into a security incident involving unauthorized access to its computer network. Upon discovering the incident, Kaplan promptly secured its systems and initiated an investigation with the assistance of external IT security specialists. Kaplan also notified law enforcement.
The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor accessed Kaplan’s computer servers between October 30, 2025 and November 18, 2025 and exfiltrated certain files. Kaplan subsequently conducted a thorough review of the affected files and, on February 21, 2026, determined that the files contained sensitive information of approximately 19,075 Maine residents.
On March 17, 2026, Kaplan filed a notice with the Attorney General of Maine and began sending out notice letters to impacted individuals. Kaplan has also informed the Texas Attorney General that 173,767 residents of Texas were affected by the breach.
