On September 2, 2025, MEDPEDS discovered that an unknown individual or entity gained unauthorized access to its computer system and deployed a virus that encrypted certain data. As a result of this incident, some patient information was impacted and accessed by the unauthorized party. Upon discovering the incident, MEDPEDS worked with a third-party forensic firm to restore its systems and investigate the nature and scope of the breach. On March 16, 2026, MEDPEDS filed a notice with the Attorney General of Maine and began sending notice letters to impacted individuals.
