What Happened?

On or about September 29, 2025, Spindletop Center was the victim of a cyberattack carried out by an unauthorized third party, which caused temporary disruption to its systems and servers. Upon detection, Spindletop Center launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. On October 30, 2025, the known ransom group RHYSIDA claimed responsibility for the attack on a dark web forum. Following an internal investigation that concluded on December 3, 2025, Spindletop Center determined that the unauthorized actor may have gained access to sensitive information stored on its systems as early as September 23, 2025. Spindletop then carried out a detailed review of the potentially impacted data to identify affected individuals and obtain valid contact information. On Nov. 28, 2025, Spindletop reported the data breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and has recently started sending out notice letters to impacted individuals.
