Trocaire College recently disclosed that it was the victim of a data breach that exposed individuals’ sensitive personal information.

What Happened?

On March 13, 2025, Trocaire College became aware of unusual activity within its digital environment. Upon detection, Trocaire College launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to certain Trocaire College systems and may have acquired sensitive data. Trocaire College conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identify the individuals whose sensitive data was included in the impacted files. On December 4, 2025, Trocaire College completed its review. On January 28, 2026, Trocaire College filed a notice with the Attorney General of Maine and began sending out notice letters to the impacted individuals.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal information may have been compromised:

    • Driver’s License or State Identification Number; and
    • Passport Number.
